More than two years have passed since Usher and his second wife, Grace Miguel, announced their separation, and the singer has clearly moved on after filing for divorce in December 2018. What we know about his girlfriend and their September 2020 baby girl is as follows.
Who is Usher’s current girlfriend?
The 42-year-old has recently started dating Jennifer Goicoechea, who works in the music business. ASCAP is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the musical copyrights of its members, and she is the director of the rhythm and soul section.
After being pictured together at a birthday party for record producer Keith Thomas in June 2019, rumors began flying that the brunette beauty and the “Yeah!” singer were an item. However, the couple’s relationship was solidified after Jennifer posted an Instagram photo of her kissing Usher on the cheek in October of 2019.
Jennifer Johnson, the photographer who captured the tender moment, wrote in the photo’s description, “Look at how well she can pucker up! Just recently, I was able to catch [Usher] in a rare backstage moment. Like these youngsters, I am always capturing the moment.” God willing, that’s all he’s catching.
Is Usher finally over the herpes scandal?
Records from a lawsuit filed against the dancer in 2012 stating that he infected a sexual partner with the herpes virus were made public in July 2017. Apparently, Usher told the unnamed woman that the results of an STD test were negative, and she believed him and had sex without protection.
He reportedly paid $1.1 million to settle, but the news has led to more legal action. Laura Helm, who claimed to have had sexual relations with Usher in April 2017, sued him for $10 million, claiming she would not have done so had she known he was a herpes carrier. At a later date, she increased the sum to $20,000,000.
TMZ announced in May 2019 that Helm has dropped the lawsuit due to a “amicable resolution” between the two parties. No information on a potential settlement has been made public.
Seven months after the STD drama began, Usher and Grace announced their divorce. Neither has mentioned the legal proceedings about the STDs in any way. After “much thought and care,” the couple announced their decision to split up.
“We’ve maintained strong bonds as friends and love for each other, and we’ll always be here for each other no matter what comes next. As time goes on, our already tremendous affection for and regard for one another will grow even deeper.”
